Parker's Third Edition Golden Anniversary Year Small Batch
Heaven Hill Distilleries, Inc. announces the September release of the third edition of Parkers Heritage Collection, a limited annual series of rare, aged American Whiskeys that pays tribute to 6th Generation Master Distiller Parker Beam. The third release, the 2009 Golden Anniversary edition, specifically celebrates Parkers 50 years as a distiller, beginning in 1960, by marrying Bourbons from each of his five decades of craftsmanship in a rare and limited bottling. Only Heaven Hill Distilleries, with the worlds second largest inventory of aging Bourbon and nearly 50% of the worlds supply of Bourbon barrels over 8 years old, could bring these rare and aged whiskeys to market. Parker Beam, along with his son Craig, oversees one of the worlds most highly esteemed distilling operations, where renowned brands such as Elijah Craig, Old Fitzgerald, and Evan Williams, the worlds second largest selling Bourbon, are produced according to Parker and Craigs seven-generation- old family recipe and yeast strain. Aged in traditional open-rick warehouses in Nelson County, the Bourbons used to make the Golden Anniversary edition were personally selected and married together by Parker, with the majority of the whiskey aged 10 to 20 years, and much lesser amounts of older whiskey. John Hansell of the Malt Advocate writes, This bottling celebrates Master Distiller Parker Beams 50 years of service by containing whiskey from each of the past five decades. This is a fabulous whiskey: seamless, incredibly complex, with an impeccable marriage of youth and maturity. Its also very even-keeled throughoutquite different than last years equally impressive PHC, a 27 year old, whose personality was more like an exhilarating old wooden rollercoaster ride (and also brandished more oak). Look for candied citrus, nectarine, blueberry, and sultana anchored by a nougat center and laced with honeyed vanilla and orange creamsickle. Theres a dusting of cocoa powder, brittle mint and cinnamon too! Tobacco leaves, polished leather and teasing bourbon barrel char round out the palate, emerging more prominently towards its warming finish. A classic! Advanced Malt Advocate magazine rating: 97. This whiskey will be released in late September.
