2007 Schloss Schonborn Erbacher Marcobrunn Ries. Spatlese
Here is a wine estate on that's on the move, right to the top of the class in the Rheingau. And what a class it is, with some of the greatest names in all of Germany located in the this fabled wine district. Schloss Schönborn has recently received 4 grape clusters in Gault Millau Wine Guide 2009, rating the estate as one of the finest producers in Germany The publication also awarded Schloss Schönborn the `Collection of 2009`, thanks to efforts of Peter Barth, the estate's highly esteemed winemaker. The Marcobrunn is a great site, with the Schönborn family owning some of its best parcels. The wine speaks of Rheingau Riesling and of the Marcobrunn in particular. Loads of power and concentration, yet with all the polished elegance that one would expect from this site. The bouquet offers deep, pungent essences of apricot puree and wet stone, with sweet, juicy and scintillating flavors, displaying hints of tangerine, mineral and peach. The brilliantly crisp finish adds to its complexity, creating a wine of exceptional balance and harmony.
