2007 Cuvelier Los Andes Coleccion Malbec Blend
ST91, "A blend based on 50% malbec 30% merlot, 10% syrah and 10% cab. Bright, saturated medium ruby. Very ripe aromas of crushed berries, mocha and dark chocolate, with a whiff of animal fur. Lush, sweet and full, with impressive breadth to the flavors of currant, mocha, leather and chocolate. Very sexy and approachable wine with a generous, tactile texture and impressive persistence. The ripe dusting of tannins will not get in the way of enjoying this knockout now." RP91, "From the Cuvelier family (proprietors of Chateau Leoville Poyferre in Bordeaux) Los Andes’ 2007 Collecion is a blend of 60% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Merlot. Sixty percent of the wine was aged in French oak for 12 months. A glass-coating opaque purple, it displays a perfumed nose of cedar, cinnamon, violets, black cherry, and black currant. Full-bodied, smooth-textured, and plush on the palate, it has layers of savory fruit, some underlying tannin, and excellent balance. This lengthy effort will benefit from 2-3 years of additional cellaring and offer prime drinking from 2012 to 2019."
