2004 Montevetrano Colli de Salento, Campania
95 Points Robert Parker: `The 2004 Montevetrano is a knock-out. Endless layers of richly textured dark fruit flows from the glass as this gorgeous wine gradually reveals the depth of its expression. Tar, smoke, menthol, eucalyptus and earthiness emerge with air, adding further complexity as the wine sits in the glass. Gorgeously long and pure - with a finish that lasts forever- this sumptuous wine is not to be missed. Montevetrano is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 10% Aglianico. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2024.` 91 Points Wine Spectator: Very nutty and floral on the nose, with crushed black fruit and notes of violet and fresh herbs. Full-bodied and fresh, with lots of dried fruit and floral character, fine, firm tannins and a long, mineral finish. Tightly packed and refined. 1,000 cases made.
