2004 Meeker Fro Zin
FroZin differs from a classic `ice wine` only in that we freeze newly crushed Zinfandel grapes, and then later add newly pressed Zinfandel juice, rather than pressing frozen whole grapes as they do in Germany, Canada and other colder areas. For this reason, our label indicates that the wine is `produced from grapes frozen post-harvest.` After freezing, the almost pure water ice created by the process is discarded, and the remaining concentrated juice ferments slowly throughout the winter and spring months, until fermentation stops naturally. This dessert-style wine is delightful drunk young, but should age wonderfully for many years to come - developing ever-greater aroma and flavor complexities.
